The Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) is Malaysia's premier pre-university qualification, administered by the Malaysian Examinations Council (Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia - MPM). It operates on a 3-Semester Modular Assessment System over 1.5 years:

Semester 1 (Penggal 1)

Lower Form 6 (Tingkatan 6 Rendah)

Intake begins in May/June. Semester 1 written examinations take place in November/January. Focuses on foundational syllabus components.

Semester 2 (Penggal 2)

Upper Form 6 (Tingkatan 6 Atas)

Written exams held mid-year (May/June). Coursework (Kerja Kursus) projects and school-based assessments commence.

Semester 3 & Graduation

Final STPM & University Intake

Semester 3 exams held in October/November. Overall CGPA (0.00–4.00) calculated for direct public university (UPU) intake in September.

Typical STPM Graduation Age: Students complete STPM at age 18–19, then enter university at age 19–20 for a standard 3 to 4-year degree (graduating university at age 22–24).
